Big Sur II

The following is a process study of a new pastel called Big Sur II. This painting is based on a photo I took several years ago during a trip Chick and I took up Hwy1. The size is 9 X 12 on Strathmore medium weight pastel paper and using several brands of pastels, including Terry Ludwig, Unison, Girault and Nupastel.

  1. What a wonderful process progression. It turned out beautifully. I think that the work you are doing is showing a steady increase in skill and use of color.

Thanks, Leila. I forgot to add the photo that I was working from. I think people like to see what changes are made, etc. Maybe I’ll add it tomorrow.

Also, I’m disappointed with the size. I’m working with Thom on how I can get larger pictures on. Evidently, the system resizes if I try to put something in larger than it is set up to accept. We trying to figure how large I can go without the system automatically reducing it.

I really like the way it looks with the plants in the foreground. I really love all the stuff you’ve done of the coastline.

  6. Thanks, Doris. You can’t beat the California coastline!

I see that Thom has solved the size problem. From now on, clicking on the image will give you a larger view.
