Well, it’s finally time. Tomorrow the Lakewood Artists Guild will be accepting submissions for the 2010 Spring Art Show held at the Community Center at Mayfair Park. I have two pastels and two watercolors that you have already seen in previous posts, but I thought I’d show them framed and ready to go.

These are wonderful! The birches are, of course, spectacular. No one could help but love the Pango pic. The leaf and rose are lovely too.
Good luck!

Im really glad you did this!
I have been trying to draw a picture of a puppy for a friend of mine…..the picture looks like a negative of the dog…..I cannot get the white to come out right. How do you do white on a drawing when the background is also white?
Well, despite the painting of the Shih Tzu on my blog, I wouldn’t recommentdputting a white dog on a plain white surface. Frankly this would have looked better if I had put in a cast shadow showing that the dog was sitting on something. Other wise I’d recommend not using pure white on the dog. You can do most of the drawing with off-whites, light blues, etc. Then save your whitest whites for the areas of top hairs.
I’m speaking of pastel here, but the same would be true of watercolor or oiil.
Now, if you are doing a pencil or charcoal drawing, you’ll be drawing the hair in pencil, leaving certain areas with little or no drawing in to show how white the hair is is on top.
You didn’t say if you were drawing with pencil, colored pencill or even charcoal. I’m afraid, I haven’t helped much. You can always send me picture of where you are on the drawing to my email address and I’d be happy to send you some suggestions.
