Sometimes, I just mess around and see what happens……………..rather weird, isn’t it?

Doodle Tres
Without ink outline and details
With ink outline and details
Well, as I planned, I got out my old set of regular Derwent Watercolor Pencils and and used them for this third and last exercise. I have to admit that the colors from the Inktense set were, in fact, brighter, both going onto the paper and as the water was applied. I had to work harder to get as much color as I was aiming for using the regular set. In the middle of the exercise, it occurred to me that I really should have done these on watercolor paper to have a true test. In the future, when I decide to complete something using w/c pencils, I’ll run a short test on probably 140 lb paper and see what the difference is.
I still have a problem, however, with the Inktense lead color not representing the final color well. It really means making up a sample sheet with the colors and their names for future use and filling in several colors that weren’t represented in the set that I got (like a true red, for instance).
Well, this was a fun exercise and I hope you enjoyed my efforts. Any questions about what I did (or anything else, of course, are more than welcome!) Enjoy!

Just a doodle
I’ve been very busy and not even taking time to doodle until today………This was done with watercolor pencils and brown stylist pen in my handy sketch book.

Almost Daily Sketches W/C & ink
Usually, I do my “almost daily sketches” in ink, but this time I laid down some watercolor and inked on top. This makes the picture more illustrative than a “true” watercolor, but I’ve always had fun with this. Enjoy

Almost Daily Sketches
Just a couple of quick sketches to get back in the groove. Each was done on my Canson 3 X 5″ sketch pad. Hope you enjoy!

More Almost Daily Sketches
Two more 3″ X 5″ sketches done with Micron Pen on sketchbook pad I carry with me all the time. My motto is: when in doubt, draw plants and flowers.
Enjoy

More Almost Daily Sketches
I found some daily sketches that I hadn’t posted. These were done at various times last year. As usual, they were done with a Micron pen on the small 3 X 5 sketchbook I carry in my purse. You never know when the muse might hit.
Enjoy.

Almost Daily Sketches
As you can see, these are not recent sketches. I’m working on a larger than usual pastel for me and I’m not ready to show it. In the meantime, I went back through my sketchbooks and found several that had never been posted. Let’s see: a pumpkin, a Chickadee, some tulips and an unidentified flower……..that just about covers it!
Enjoy!

Daily Sketches
Here are four daily sketches done the 3″ X 5″ pad that I carry in my purse with a couple of Micron drawing pens. Sometimes I draw things I see out the window while sitting in my car, other times I take bits and pieces from magazines and create a sketch from them. Although I call them “daily” sketches, and I do try to complete one in the morning to get the juices flowing, there are some days (even weeks maybe) that I just don’t get to it. All in all, I have an interesting collection and I share it with you from time to time.
They aren’t meant to be high art or will ever be framed. They are my way of getting into the zone of art no matter where I am or what I’m doing. I don’t worry if some turn out better than others. After all, even the days are like that, aren’t they?
I hope you enjoy the peek.
