This is a 9 X 12 pastel of a Bearded Collie done for my sister’s birthday. She has had several and I can understand why. They may be in the herding group, but they have a very out-going, playful personality.

You seemed to catch the mellowness of this dog. Hiis coat is lovely because of your use of the grays and whites of the pastels.
He looks like a comfortable old friend. I know that she lost one; does she have another?
It’s really adorable! Zoe still regularly provides commentary on the dog you painted for her.
Actually, this isn’t my sister’s Beardie. I got photos from a friend of hers,,,,,,,I wanted it to be a complete surprise. Interestingly enough, the friend rescues Beardies like my sister does and I think she has two that are her own. She lives on the East Coast and what is so funny is that my sister’s name is Karen Norton and the friend’s name is Karen Norteman!
Thanks for the comments. I tried to show the personality of these large, herding dogs! A formal picture would have them all groomed with very long straight hair and very much at attention. In reality, they are very playful companions and make great family dogs.
Thom: has Zoe given the dog a name?
CUTE! I love your animal art!
Thanks, Doris. I usually go first to landscapes, but I think I’ll be doing some more dogs and possibly people. Many, many, many years ago, I did some portraits, but haven’t had the urge until just lately.
WOW! I’m just thrilled with my painting! Jan has really captured the “look” of a Beardie! The painting has the eyes of my first Beardie, Bobby, and the coat of my 3rd Beardie, Whitney. Neither is with me any longer but they live on in this painting. Thanks Sis!
Thank you all for your comments.
It seemed like an appropriate Happy Birthday!…..Big Sis
